Ghana New Coach Meets With President Nana Akufo-Addo

The Black Stars’ incoming coach, James Kwesi Appiah, held a meeting with Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo earlier this week.
Footballghana.com reports that the meeting was held behind closed doors at Flagstaff House on Tuesday.

The Ghanaian president has given his blessing to the return of Appiah to the Black Stars hot-seat.

The 56-year-old was in charge of the national team from 2012 to 2014 and became the first local coach to secure qualification for the World Cup.

However, Ghana’s disastrous campaign at Brazil 2014 ultimately cost him his job.

Since then he has been in charge of Sudanese club Al Khartoum, a role where he enjoyed notable success.

Appiah replaces Avram Grant, who parted ways with Ghana after the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, and officially begins his duties on May 1.
