UEL Final: Man United Beat Ajax 2-0 To Lift Trophy, Qualify For UCL

UEFA Europa League winners Manchester United have joined Ajax, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Juventus in an elite band of teams to have lifted all three major club trophies.
Manchester United topped Ajax, 2-0, in the Europa League final inside the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on Wednesday night.
The fear, that the emotion of a traumatic week for Manchester might overwhelm United’s players, did not materialise.

Less than 48 hours after a terror attack killed 22 people and injured many more at Manchester Arena, the club's fans, players and staff stood unbowed in Stockholm.

Paul Pogba put United 1-0 ahead after just 18 minutes, benefitting from a deflection.

He pointed to the heavens in memory of his dad, Fassou Antoine, who died recently after a long illness, after scoring to put United on their way to a comfortable win over Ajax in the Friends Arena.
And in less than 180 seconds into the second half, Henrikh Mkhitaryan doubled the lead, thanks to some unbelievably quick reflexes and a tidy overhead kick from three yards out.

And United lifted the Europa League to complete the hat-trick of major European prizes; the Champions League, Europa League and the Cup Winner's Cup.

The Red Devils are the fifth side to win all the three major European club competitions.
Prior to this victory they had won the European Cup on three occasions, in 1968, 1999 and 2008, and the Cup Winners' Cup in 1991.

United now join English Premier League champions Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City in next season's Champions League group stages, which will earn them about £50m in revenue.

This also represents their second trophy of Mourinho's debut season as United boss following their victory in the EFL Cup in February.
