Ajax's Abdelhak Nouri Suffers Severe And Permanent Brain Damage

20-year-old Ajax youngster Abdelhak Nouri suffered severe and permanent brain damage after collapsing on Saturday in a preseason match.
The midfielder collapsed during a recent pre-season friendly against Werder Bremen and was transported to the hospital where he was placed into a coma.
A lack of oxygen supply to the brain following his collapse is what is thought to have caused the damage.
A statement on the club's website reads: "It is expected Nouri will soon travel to Amsterdam for further treatment, but the chances of recovery are low. This is the worst possible message.

"It's terrible. We feel enormously for his parents, siblings and other relatives. Their suffering is impossible to describe.

" The blow is also being felt at Ajax, though we knew we had to consider this scenario.

"Abdelhak is such a great talent, but unfortunately we will never know how far his star would have reached out would not have happened like this."
