Barca's Jeremy Mathieu Joins Sporting

Sporting Lisbon have confirmed they have signed Jeremy Mathieu from Barcelona on a two-year contract.
The French centre back still had a year remaining on his current contract with the Catalans but apparently is no part of manager Ernesto Valverde's plans.

Mathieu joins Sporting shortly after Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao completed his move to the Portuguese side.
"Sporting Clube de Portugal - Futebol, SAD announces that it has reached an agreement with the player Jeremy Mathieu to sign a contract valid for the next two seasons and with a termination clause set at €60 million [N22 billion]," a statement read.
Barcelona statement said: "FC Barcelona wishes the player the best of luck and success in his next professional step."
The 33-year-old centre-back leaves the Nou Camp after three seasons, in which he made 91 appearances and scored four goals

Mathieu was one of Luis Enrique's first signings after he became Barcelona manager in the summer of 2014, arriving on a £19m transfer from Valencia.

In his time with the club, the Frenchman won nine three Copa del Rey titles, two La Liga championships, a Champions League, a Club World Cup, a European Super Cup and a Spanish Super Cup.
