Barcelona vs Juventus
UEFA Champions League Group-stage – Season 2017/18
Date: Tuesday, 12th September 2017
Kick-off at 19:45 Nigerian Times
Venue: Camp Nou.

Barca are coming from their third in a row clean-sheets win in the La Liga, where they are currently leaders.

Neymar’s departure has probably become the most famous transfer-story ever.

And Barcelona is hoping to improve their squad with recent reinforcements Dembele and Paulinho.

As for Juve, they too are coming from their third in a row win in the domestic campaign.

The last year’s Serie A champions, are currently are currently at the table.

Juventus are in a great shape. Their team has recently been improved by Matuidi from PSG and Bernardeschi.

Barca - Ernesto Valverde will be without fringe players such as right back Sergio Roberto, winger Arda Turan, and center midfielder Rafinha due to injuries.

Juve - Max Allegri will be without key center back Giorgio Chiellini and center midfielder Claudio Marchisio, as well as winger Marko Pjaca due to injuries.  Winger Juan Cuadrado will be out with a suspension carried over from last season.  Goalkeeper Gigi Buffon, left back Alex Sandro are among those that should come back into the side for this match after being rested at the weekend.

Barca - The Spanish giants lost to Real Madrid home and away to start the season in the Spanish Super Cup before recording three wins in La Liga, most recently over Espanyol on Saturday by a score of 5-0 to win the Catalan Derby.

Juve - The Italian giants didn't get off to the greatest of starts in losing 2-3 to Lazio in the SuperCoppa Italia, but they have won three straight league matches, including a home win over Chievo on Saturday by a score of 3-0.

Barca (4-3-3):  Ter Stegen; Semedo, Pique, Umtiti, Alba; Busquets, Rakitic, Iniesta; Messi, Dembele, Suarez

Juve (4-2-3): Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Rugani, Barzagli, Alex Sandro; Pjanic, Matuidi; Costa, Dybala, Mandzukic; Higuain

  • They have had 6 head to head encounters so far.

  • Both teams have two wins respectively, and twice they drew. It’s interesting that Barcelona never won at Camp Nou.
  • Last season's quarterfinal meeting was a masterclass by Juventus as they won 3-0 in the first leg and drew 0-0 at the Camp Nou to eliminate Barcelona, thus getting revenge for their loss in the final in 2015.
  • Since October 2016, Barca greatest Spanish rivals, Real Madrid, were the only ones that managed to defeat them at Camp Nou.

Barcelona 1-1 Juventus - This will be a very exciting game. Both of them will be fighting hard for finishing the group stage as leaders in their league tables. And with the form both teams are in, a highly-intense match seems to be on the cards. With the confidence boosting win they’ve both had over the weekend,  I think tonight's game will definitely end in draw.
