Ligue 1: Radamel Falcao Score Brace In Monaco Win; Saint-Etienne Beat Dijon To Go Third

Here's the roundup of today's Ligue 1 fixtures..
Monaco 3 - 0 Strasbourg

Radamel Falcao netted a brace as Monaco returned to winning ways in Ligue 1 with a 3-0 victory over Strasbourg at Stade Louis II.

Leonardo Jardim's champions, who had been hammered 4-0 at Nice in their previous league outing, went ahead a minute before the break through Rony Lopes.

Falcao then added strikes in the 51st and 67th minutes to wrap up three points for second-placed Monaco that take them level on 15 with leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who play on Sunday.

Monaco almost had the lead in the eighth minute when Stevan Jovetic sent a shot against the bar.  Having continued to pressurise, they broke the deadlock in the closing stages of the first half when Falcao teed up Lopes' close-range finish.

The Colombia striker then took centre stage, notching his first of the contest having been set up by Jorge before adding another right-footed effort that took his tally for Monaco this term to nine goals, the most of any player in the top European leagues.

Unai Emery's PSG will look to extend their 100 percent start to the season on Sunday when they face Lyon at the Parc des Princes.

Dijon 0 - 1 Saint-Etienn

St Etienne are up to third, two points behind the top two, after they won 1-0 at Strasbourg's fellow relegation zone-dwellers Dijon.

Jonathan Bamba netted the winner from the penalty spot in the 49th minute after being fouled in the visitors' area by Fouad Chafik.

Guingamp 1 - 0 Lille

Guingamp, who are eighth, secured a dramatic 1-0 win against Lille at the Stade de Roudourou as the visitors' winless run continued for a fifth match.

Substitute Etienne Didot snatched all three points for the hosts in stoppage time with a right-footed effort.

Nantes 1 - 0 Caen

Nantes are up two places to sixth following their victory by the same scoreline over Caen at the Stade de la Beaujoire.

Claudio Ranieri's team scored with just over 15 minutes remaining, Andrei Girotto firing in with his right foot having been set by Chidozie Awaziem.

Troyes 0 - 1 Montpellier

It also finished 1-0 between Troyes and Montpellier at the Stade de l'Aube, a triumph for the away side.

Pedro Mendes scored a header in the 32nd minute, connecting with Stephane Sessegnon's cross.

Troyes were reduced to 10 men in the dying moments of the contest after Oswaldo Vizcarrondo was sent off.
