Real Madrid vs Levante Match Preview, Team News & Possible Lineups + La Liga Today's Fixtures

The Spanish league is back in action after the international break.

Today’s program will begin at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu where the defending champions will host Levante in the third round of the competition.


Real Madrid - Coach Zinedine Zidane will be missing center back Raphael Varane due to injury, as well as still being without Cristiano Ronaldo until the middle of the month due to his suspension.

Levante - Juan Muniz will be without center forwards Roger Marti and Nano due to injuries.  Meanwhile, left winger Jose Luis Morales is out with a suspension.


Real Madrid - Los Blancos have four wins and a draw in their last five matches.  They won 1-3 away to Barcelona and then 2-0 over them at home in the Super Cup to hoist the trophy.  Up next was a 0-3 win at Deportivo to start La Liga before they won a friendly against Fiorentina 2-1.  Last time out, they drew 2-2 against Valencia at home.   

Levante - They have a loss, two wins, and two draws in their last five matches.  They lost 0-2 at home to Real Zaragoza before drawing 1-1 at home to Alaves and winning 0-2 at Elche in friendlies.  They began their season by in La Liga by picking up four points.  They won 1-0 at home over Villarreal and then drew 2-2 at home to Deportivo last time out.

  • The last time these teams played was back in 2016 when Real Madrid won 1-3 away to Levante.  That marked their ninth straight win over them.
  • Overall, they have lost just three times and drawn only once to them in 20 total matches.  
  •  Real Madrid have lost only one of their last 11 games in La Liga against Levante at home – a 0-1 results in February 2007.  
  • Levante have not succeeded in finding the back of the net in their last visits to Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga, with their last goal coming in April 2013 from the boots of Michel.
  • Real Madrid have scored in their last 70 games in all competitions – a record for being the longest ever streak in the top five European leagues.
  • Karim Benzema has had the most shots of any La Liga player without managing to score this season (eight).
