Ex - Real Star Pepe Slams Madrid Fans

Pepe, who left Real Madrid to join Besiktas over the summer, has blamed the recent bad results on the supporters.
Pepe, 34, won three La Liga titles and the Champions League three times while at Real Madrid.

The centre-back quit Spain for Besiktas this summer and has already made an impact in the turkish Super Lig.

Indeed, the Besiktas fans have also rubbed off on the Portugal international.

In a revealing interview with Turkish reporters, the Euro 2016 winner conceded Real Madrid’s supporters are no comparison to his new legion of fans.
"The fans of Besiktas are very passionate and when we are leaving the field it always surprises me the noise coming from the stands,” he said.

“Maybe the fans of Real Madrid - and you can be mad at me for what I am going to say - people say that the fans of Madrid transmit enthusiasm to the team, but I do not believe it.

“The reality is not that.

“The atmosphere of Besiktas and Real Madrid is very different.

“People love this sport, they are always thinking about football, and after the games the noise is heard until dawn.”
Real’s Bernabeu Stadium is one of the largest in Europe but during La Liga games can often fail to sell out. Besiktas play at the 41,000 Vodafone Park.
