I Welcome A Move To River Plate - Barca's Mascherano

Javier Mascherano has admitted that he takes a return to his home country in serious consideration.

The Argentine defender seems to have no future at Barcelona anymore and is open to a move to River Plate.

Earlier this week, he was linked to a return to Liverpool. Mascherano is still under contract at Barcelona, but with Umtiti and Pique at the heart of the defence, playing time is likely to decrease.

The defender told TNT Sports that he likes the idea of continuing his career at River Plate.
He said: "I believe I need to give a chapter of my career to River Plate. My problem is this is not guaranteed and I could be a prisoner of my own words, if the move does not happen I may be accused of lying.

"But the truth is that this is what I have thought about'. 'I have a good relationship with the club’s president Rodolfo D’Onofrio and we speak regularly.

"My future has nothing to do with money, I used to make my own decisions but now they’re done by my family, I cannot forget my kids and their situation. What will I be doing in January or summer? I have no idea."
