Leo Messi Explains Why He Will Miss Argentina - Nigeria Tie

Lionel Messi has explained his absence from the national team for the friendly against Nigeria by saying he needs the rest to be at his best for the World Cup.
The Argentina captain played the full 90 minutes of his country's 1-0 victory over Russia on Saturday, playing a role in Sergio Aguero's late winner in Moscow., but won't feature in the next friendly against Nigeria.

It was stated that Messi's departure from the Argentina camp is not related to injury.
And he explained that: "We talked to him [Argentina senior national team head coach Sampaoli]. We play many games in the season – the Champions League, the Copa del Rey, LaLiga, plus everything about the national team and the trips.

"I want to get to the World Cup in the best way."
Messi praised Aguero, who became the all-time leading goalscorer for Manchester City this month, for drawing level with Hernan Crespo in third with his 35th senior international strike.
"It's important. He came from making a record with City and now he has done it here," he added.
