Marseille Terminate Evra's Contract After UEFA Bans Him For Rest Of The Season For Fan Attack

Just minutes after UEFA announced that they will ban Patrice Evra from their competitions for the rest of the season, until June 2018, Olympique Marseille in turn revealed his contract had been terminated "by mutual consent".
The former Manchester United defender clashed with his own supporters before the UEFA Europa League fixture with Vitoria Vitoria Guimaraes on November 2, and aimed an acrobatic attack at one person.

Video footage showed the 36-year-old aiming the kick at the Marseille fan as visiting players and supporters confronted each other at the side of the pitch. He was then ushered away by a teammate.

The former Manchester United defender was sent off and now UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has decide to ban him from playing in all UEFA club competition for the rest of this season.

In addition, the former Manchester United player has been fined N4 million (€10,000).

However, the punishment only applies to the Europa League and Champions League, meaning he could still play domestic football pending any punishment from the French FA.

But Evra's contract with Marseille was terminated with immediate effect immediately UEFA announced the French defender's seven-month ban.

The French club initially removed Evra from first-team consideration to investigate the incident but they have now decided to relieve him of his duties, confirming the decision on Friday afternoon.
The former Juventus left back is escorted from the pitch following the argument with fans

A club statement read: "By mutual agreement, Olympique de Marseille and Patrice Evra decided to end their collaboration. The player's contract is officially terminated with immediate effect.

"Since January 2017, Patrice Evra has been exemplary in the field and in the dressing room. He played an important role in the revival of the team, the significant improvement of its results, the revival of a high sporting ambition.

"Last November 2 in Guimaraes, he committed the irreparable by responding to provocations unworthy of a handful of individuals. However, nothing in the background and especially in the form, justified such a reaction, especially from a senior player as experienced whose attitude on the ground and off should inspire the youngest.

"In such a context, the conditions were no longer met for Patrice Evra to accomplish his mission and above all effectively. Both parties agreed and decided to discontinue their collaboration by mutual agreement."
*An apology from him would have stopped all this from happening. But his pride didn't allow him... He deserves what he's getting*
