Ferdinand Urges Liverpool To Sign New Players In January

Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand has claimed Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp must buy two players in the January transfer window.

The Manchester United legend has been impressed by the depth of Klopp's squad this season.

But he believes the addition of a goalkeeper and centre-back could allow Liverpool to advance further in the Champions League.
"I think they need a keeper as well (as a centre-back), I think a keeper would be a great addition to that squad as well," he told BT Sport.

"I think (Joe) Gomez at centre-half and Trent Alexander-Arnold playing at right-back and adding another centre-half to that, I think they would then have a real, real good team there.

"If you look at their bench today as well, there's a lot of quality on that bench.

"(Daniel) Sturridge came off the bench, he'd be an England squad player, (Alex) Oxlade-Chamberlain how much did they pay? £35million (N16 billion), (Adam) Lallana to come back into that."
Asked if signing Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk was a possibility, Ferdinand responded:
"I think he's the one that is gettable, yeah, I do think he is.

"I've always liked him since his Celtic days and I think it has probably affected his form this season as well.

"They may have a better opportunity of getting him in this January window. Southampton, he was huge for them last season, this season, not as important I don't think."
