Devastated! Sunderland's Interest In Jonathan Walters Is Over As He Posts Injury Update On Twitter

Burnley striker Jonathan Walters has taken to Twitter to admit he is 'devastated' after needing surgery, which will keep him sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Walters, a summer signing from Stoke City, was seen as a smart addition for Sean Dyche's men, having carved out a career as a hard-working forward in the English Premier League.

Despite losing Andre Gray though, Burnley haven't used Walters much this season, and he has still yet to make his first English Premier League start for the Clarets.

With just 37 minutes of EPL action this season, the Republic of Ireland international has been frustrated this term, leading to speculation over his future at Turf Moor.

The Chronicle reported earlier this week that Walters had become Chris Coleman's top target at Sunderland, with the Black Cats searching for a new striker.

Sunderland may have been hoping for a loan deal for the 34-year-old, but their hopes have now been ended by his injury.
Walters took to Twitter on Wednesday night to post a photo of himself in hospital after surgery, admitting that he is devastated – and given that he will now be ruled out until after the transfer deadline, Walters won't be moving to Sunderland or anywhere else this month.
