Giroud 'Proud' To Join Chelsea From Arsenal

Oliver Giroud said he was 'proud' to join Chelsea after completing his £18million (8.7bn) transfer deadline day move from Arsenal.
The Gunners agreed to sell Giroud to their London rivals after wrapping up a club-record deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Dortmund were prepared to sell Aubameyang once they knew they had a loan deal secured for Michy Batshuayi.

With the signing of the 31-year-old, Chelsea have finally got the tall striker they were looking for. Giroud will wear the number 18 shirt.
"Chelsea is one of the biggest teams in the Premier League," the forward said.

"They have won maybe the most trophies in the last six or seven years. It’s a massive club and I am proud to sign for Chelsea, and I’m looking forward to playing."
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said:
"Olivier is a proven talent at the top level and we are very pleased to call him a Chelsea player.

"He has scored goals regularly throughout his career and is well accustomed to English football and the Premier League. We are sure he will be a fantastic signing."

The club tweeted their own heartfelt message to the 31-year-old:
"For the scorpion kicks, the bullet headers, the late strikes, the north London derby winner, the FA Cup final assists, the 105 goals, the 253 appearances and for all the hard work and dedication, we want to say... THANK YOU, OLIVIER GIROUD"
Giroud responded: "I spent five and a half amazing years within the Arsenal family. This beautiful story ends today. Thank you for your warm welcome. I would like to especially thank the fans for their unconditional support upon my arrival #nananana #ThankYou."
