Man United Set To Battle City And Arsenal Over Former Player

Jose Mourinho wants to bring Jonny Evans back to Manchester United – and is willing to spend £20million (N9billion) to beat Manchester City and Arsenal to his signature.
Northern Ireland international Evans came through United’s academy over a decade ago before going on to play almost 200 games for the club’s first-team.

Evans was a regular for United for the best part of ten years and helped the club win three English Premier League titles.

He was surprisingly sold to West Brom in 2015 for just £8m while Louis van Gaal was in charge.

Evans’ future at the Hawthorns has been the subject of much speculation and the 29-year-old could be on the move during the January transfer window.

Relegation-battlers West Brom are desperate to retain his services and have put a new £100,000 (47m)-a-week contract on the table.

But the Daily Mirror say the Baggies know they will be forced to listen to offers unless he puts pen to paper on a new deal imminently.

Man City and Arsenal both expressed interest in signing Evans last summer and, at the time, West Brom slapped a £30m (14b) price tag on his head.

But now United have joined the race to secure his signature, with Mourinho hoping to seal a deal to bring Evans back to the Theatre of Dreams.
