UCL Tuesday Round 16 First Leg: Man City Thrash Basel As Kane & Eriksen Earn Spurs Draw

The UEFA Champions League is back!
And on Tuesday night, Manchester City took a gigantic step towards the quarter-final thanks to a 4-0 win away at FC Basel. Tottenham also was something special in the first leg of their Round of 16.

Basel 0 - 4 Manchester City

Manchester City are all but through to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after a convincing 4-0 victory over Basel.

The Swiss side beat Manchester United in the Group stage but were quickly swept aside, with goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero putting the visitors out of side inside the first 25 minutes.

Gundogan doubled his tally shortly after half-time as City, favourites for the UCL and still on course for a quadruple, laid down an early marker.

The return leg will take place at the Etihad in Manchester, England on 7 March.

Juventus 2 - 2 Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham recovered from an early setback to claim an impressive 2-2 draw against Juventus in their UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg in Turin.

Spurs found themselves two goals down inside the opening 10 minutes as Gonzalo Higuain's clinical finish opened the scoring and the Argentinian's penalty, after Ben Davies had brought down Federico Bernardeschi, doubled their advantage.

Harry Kane pulled one back in the 35th minute, rounding Gianluigi Buffon after collecting Dele Alli's pass, before Higuain spurned the chance to complete a first-half hat-trick, crashing a second penalty against the crossbar.

A driven free-kick from Christian Eriksen made it 2-2 with 18 minutes remaining and leaves Mauricio Pochettino's men in a strong position going into the second leg that will played at Wembley in London, England on 7 March.
