Wednesday's UCL Last-16: David de Gea Saves Man United As Shakhtar Beat Roma

David de Gea's stunning first-half save helped Manchester United claim a draw at Sevilla, while Shakhtar Donetsk came from behind to beat Roma in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 ties.
Sevilla 0-0 Manchester United

David De Gea's exceptional display saved Manchester United's blushes as Jose Mourinho's men somehow escaped with a goalless draw from a match dominated by Sevilla.

Wednesday's trip to the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan was the Red Devils' first UEFA Champions League last-16 match since 2014, but their performance in this first leg was one to forget.

United struggled to contain Vincenzo Montella's Sevilla throughout a one-sided contest, with De Gea required to produce a string of saves - including an incredible first-half stop to deny Luis Muriel - as proceedings somehow ended 0-0.

Manchester United will be the happier of the two teams heading into the return leg at Old Trafford on Tuesday, 13 March with Jose Mourinho's side winning 15 of their 18 games on home soil this season.

Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 Roma

Facundo Ferreyra and Fred scored second half goals to lead Shakhtar Donetsk past AS Roma 2-1 at the Donbass Arena in Wednesday’s first leg of the clubs’ UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.

Cendig Under scored his fifth goal in four matches as AS Roma did manage an away goal before the March 13 second leg in Rome.

Fred has been linked with a summer move to Man City, and the banger of a free kick showed part of the reason the Brazilian is in demand.
